With less than a decade of legal practice under her belt, Lisa Skakun is the well-deserving honouree of the Rising Star Award.
 

Having excelled in private practice at Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy LLP, Lisa subsequently acted as sole legal counsel to Xantrex, a world leader in renewable energy solutions. Reporting to the CFO, Lisa spearheaded the legal integration and restructuring of Xantrex subsequent to its buyout by multinational Schneider Electric.
 

Lisa Skakun is now a member of the Senior Executive Team for one of Canada’s largest credit unions. As Coast Capital Savings’ first ever General Counsel, she also serves as Corporate Secretary and works closely with the Board of Directors on a variety of board matters.
 

Of equal importance to Lisa is her volunteer work. She is currently a cabinet member for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s “judy&company Leader’s Cabinet” and served as Coast Capital Savings’ honourary Chair for its award winning 2010 United Way Campaign. She is the past Chair of the BC Business Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association, and recently completed a three year term as a member of the Securities Law Advisory Committee for the BC Securities Commission.
 

Lisa holds a LLB from the University of British Columbia, as well as a Master of Laws degree in business law from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. Having also studied at Harvard Business School, Lisa is a lifelong learner and course junkie who rarely meets a program she does not enrol in.
